28 Sep Learn How Solar Works with a Call to Light Solar
Anyone who has an interest in solar energy would benefit from a conversation with the experts at Light Solar. I called them and I learned a great deal that I’d like to share with others.
My name is Michael Santos and I’m an investor. As a property owner, I want to make sure that I’m doing everything within my power to get best-in-class efficiencies from my properties. That’s why I called Light Solar.
Solar energy works by capturing the sun’s energy and turning that energy into electricity.
The sun is a natural nuclear reactor, releasing tiny packets of energy called photons. Mark, from Light Solar, explained that the photons travel 93 million miles from the sun to the Earth in less than ten minutes. Each hour, our planet receives enough photons to generate solar energy for an entire year of power.
Light Solar is working to expand the use of this awesome, renewable, natural resource. As of 2017, Mark explained that photovoltaic power accounts for only ½ of 1 percent of the energy we consume in the U.S. But solar technology continues to improve, bringing down costs. With lower costs, and better technology, we’re going to see the use of solar energy rising.
The International Energy Agency published a report showing that solar has become the world’s fastest-growing source of power.
It’s pretty cool the way solar works. When photons hit a solar cell, they knock electrons loose from their atoms. If conductors are attached to the positive and negative sides of a cell, it forms an electrical circuit. When electrons flow through such a circuity, the generate electricity. Multiple cells make up a solar panel. And multiple panels (modules) can be wired together to form a solar array. That’s where Light Solar comes in. The more panels you can deploy, the more energy you can expect to generate.
